Hello jalaneme
How are you these day's and is the Matrix Infinity live up to it's kite mark, it is a really good chip and has read everything i have thrown at it, and that is the whole idea for me, although i am now playing around with my xbox, i had to get another one, because i tried a soft mod, and it sorta screwed up my crystal V1.6 xbox up, but vnever mind, that is another issue, anyway i shall have to go but let me know how thing's are with your chip buddy

Quote: btw. Is it true that after installation, watching DVD movie back-ups (even on good media) can harm your PS2 lens?
It is infact true to a degree. While we can make rather good backups with our burners they [the backups] are nowhere near the level of perfection as the DVD-ROM originals. In some PS2 versions, most notably Ver. 9,10,12 the laser can struggle too hard to read a backup and fry the LA chip which controls fuctions for the laser such as voltage. A solution around this is performing a Romeo mod for the versions 9 and 10 which has you desolder pin 17 of your LA chip and resolder it to a 5 volt regulator as not to let the laser go past 5 volts. For the version 12 you need to get a solder-in 5 volt regulator chip (obtained from www.mod-chip.com) which as the name implies, regulates the laser to only 5 volts to prevent the LA chip from burning up. If you have one of those versions of PS2 it is absolutly necessary to perform a 5 volt mod to it. I didn't do the mod, and now I have a boat-load of knowledge on the subject and no PS2. :(

Truly sorry to hear about your PS2 Joshewah but i'm glad you're answering my question anyway. Ok, so i guess it's not neecessary for me to do the Romeo mod since I have the version 7 PS2?
The reason why I want to watch my DVD movie back-ups on it is because the DVD player is in my mom's room, the PC is in the living room (no beds there) and the PS2 is in my room... and on top of that, my DVDs aren't so "Mom friendly" (think Pulp Fiction)

The romeo mod is an issue for low quality/damaged media on v9/10 PS2's. It's possible that Josewah was using shite media. Or it could've just been a freak thing, that stuff happens. A v7 doesn't need a laser fix. The PS2, even with the DVD remote, is low end DVD player. You can get a quality Dual Format DVD player for $40 or so. The PS2 is incapable of playing DVD's from another region, it's an issue with the framerate coversion in the firmware, there's no known fix for it.

Just an update if anyone is interested. I got my Pre-modded slim ps2 from ghost2fitters a few days after ordering. They kept me updated via e-mail on the progress of the shipment. I have played the ps2 a few times since i got it and it seem to work fine. Haven't had any probs so far but if i get any i'll let you know. because of their great service i will probably order another one from them for my brother.
