My nephew gave me a copy of a DVD he had made of his wedding. It plays on my computer with PowerDVD but only rolls and flutters when
I try to play it on my DVD player and tv. I can play regular DVDs on both just not this one. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What format is the wedding recorded in? ie. DVD-R, +R, -RW, +RW?

I am going to guess that whatever format it is in, is one that your DVD player may not play. Or that the media (brand of DVD disk) is a "low quality" one. Or that the disk was recorded at a too high of speed. Or all of the above.

Find out what format your stand alone player can handle, brand of the disk, etc. per above. You will be able to receive more specific answers if you can provide more info.

It was recorded on a DVD+R Verbatim. Not sure what speed it was recored at. Is it possible to load it to the computer, since it plays on PowerDVD and burn it at a slower speed, I think my computer has a burning capibility.

I used the dvd with the wedding on it and did copy dvd with Nero and used a write speed of 4x. Again it played on the computer and rolled in the dvd player; but not as bad as the original. Still have no ideas on what to try next.

Verbatims are usually good disks. Since the disk is a +R format, try making a copy of it on another +R, BUT set the Booktype to DVD-ROM (a setting you can make within Nero before recording). This will help compatibility on picky DVD players. You probably have one of them. Burn at no more than half the rated speed for the disk; ie. burn a 16X disk at 8X (or slower).

I have a bunch of settings for DVD-ROM. [boot], [udf],[udf/iso] etc. Which one do I use. I think I saved a copy of the dics on the computer. I think it might have been save as a unnamed ts_video file. Any way I still have a copy on disc.

I'm not sure I understand your last response. We are probably not talking about the same meaning for setting the booktype or bitsetting to DVD-ROM.

I use Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.51.1 to do this. It is a free download whether you have Nero or not. Anyway, once you get this add on and open it you can use to to set your booktype/bitsetting to DVD-ROM for your burner drive.

Be sure to select your drive on the Pull Down box. Then click on the Extra tab, Bitsetting, and the Bitsetting dialog box will appear. Only + format disks can be bitset. Setting to DVD-ROM increases compatibility for playing the disks in finicky, standalone players.

Got the program loaded. Still trying to figure it out. Copied the disc at 2X but have no idea where the finished file went. Will try again and see what happens.

If you have installed CD Speed and followed the instructions for bitsetting, the "finished file" will be the disk copy that you made. Bitsetting is something you do the disk you are making to make it more readable on picky standalone players.

There is no finished file to disappear so to speak. After you made the disk at 2X with the type set to DVD-Rom, did it work better in your player?

Try searching the forums or guides for the term bitsetting. Reading more on the subject may help.
