If you dont have a wireless router you cant use the internet on your psp considering that psp has built in wifi technology.

I wouldnt even know how to steal someones internet. I was able to browse the internet without a wireless router in my house. It stopped working for some reason though. If anyone else had this problem and got it fixed please let me know.

by the way this topic looks, i think he and his brother was just able to access psp internet through a neighbors open wireless access point then it got closed or set to a different setting so their psp's cannot connect anymore.
psp internet is not a free nationwide sony service. you can gain internet psp through free/paid wifi hotspots or your own wifi/internet network at home.
using wifi of others without consent is considered theft of service in some area. but i do not see it this way coz if you dont wanna share you can lock/password it. sitting on a wifi cafe using their wifi without buying anything is an abuse though.
now you know! hehe ^_^

i have the same problem with the guy that started this thread.. i do have a wifi connection in my house.. however when i test the connection it says A connection error has occured (80410D09) i have a 1.5 thats tricked to think its a 2.00 the SSID im using is linksys.. that is when i scanned showed 100% Signal Strength the encryption is WEP though..(whats WEP by the way) then on the WLAN setiing i change the encryption from WEP to none as advised by another guy i asked for help.. then in adress setting i chose easy.. then save comleted then the screen shows test connection when i click that.. then the prob occurs... i think the prob is that i changed my encryption to none instead of WEP, where in when I scanned it it clearly shows my connection has a WEP encryption whatever that is.. can someone back up my theory? or tell that its wrong? i really have no choice bout the WEP stuff coz when i continue it asks for a WEP key which i have no idea where to get.. Any help would be greatly preciated... thanks

as for the 2.0, well i advice you use DevHook .46, a lot of people are satisfied with its performance. follow the guide on my sig for DevHook.
there was a guide for internet for psp somewhere AD, do some searching.
if your router is a buffalo brand, using AOSS on both PC & PSP will easily setup the proper connection.
If you installed your WIFI router, it will give you all the needed information such as SSID and WEP (or WPA), IP etc.
to display the IP of your PC WIFI Card just RUN "IPCONFIG" on windows cmd prompt. these are the number you need to input manually on the PSP.
WEP is an encryption/password used for WIFI network data transfers.

@o1flipp
well i havent encountered that kind of error message as i didnt use .44 there may have been some corrupted files or something, i suggest you backup your memory stick (specially game saves) on to the PC then formating your MS then installing DevHook .46 which is located at my sig. most people dont have problems with this. If DevHook .46 doesnt make you feel better, you could format your memory stick again and copy the backup from the pc. but i bet you wouldnt go back to .44 once you're with .46 ^_^

as you know that error you are mentioning happens only if your psp has internal problems, corrupt system files, or psp not used for a long time with battery having power. its the default system configuration of a first boot, its will ask for the language, hence choose you country, then ask for time and date. and so ford until you reach the XMB (Main Interface of the PSP). Did you just downgrade? Can Your PSP reach the XMB (without UMS & MS)? is your PSP still 1.5 Firmware?
Follow my guide on how to install devhook properly, located at my sig.
this will help, really! just try completing the guide.
