Does anybody have the WIFI thingy for their DS? I understand that you can play against people using it, but can you use pictochat to chat with other people around the world that are also using the WIFI software? Im curious about this i might buy the adapter... But i have a router that i can use if thats possible im not sure. Thanks in advance.

I don't own the actual Nintendo Wifi Adapter, but I do use Wifi through my wireless router.

Yes you can play games against other people using it, but the games must support it.
Some games I can think of are:
Mario Kart DS
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Tetris DS
Metroid Prime Hunters

You can't use pictochat like that, that can only be used within a 30foot range to other DS's directly.

Ok im not good at this at all im not very technical but it is a Linksys Wireless-B 2.4GHz Broadband router. If you need more detail i would be happy to explain more or find it online and send the link.

Ok, thats a good start, most linksys work with the DS.

Do you have a wifi game?

And, do you know if your router has any encryption, such as WEP?

Well for right now i only have Madden and the Metroid prime demo but if i can get this thing running i will surely buy more games. I know that WEP is a code you put in so other people dont use your signal but how do i check if mine has it? Mines not connected im not home but its sitting right here.

Your going to need the router connected to a computer, I will not go through how to do that.

Once setup on a computer, open up your internet browser and type in the address bar "192.168.1.1" without the quotes. You should now be acessing the router, you will be prompted for a password, by default the Username will be Admin, or left blank (you'll have to try both) and the Passowrd will be admin.

You will then need to search through the options on your router to find the WEP key (if you have one) I cannot tell you where to find it as I do not own that router, but it should not be that difficult to locate.

You may also have the option to use WPA encryption, this is not compatible with the DS, so don't use it.

Unfortunetly neither of your games support Wifi, so you cannot test the system, what I reccommend is buy Mario Kart, it's amasing game on it's own, and getting Wifi is an added bonus.
