Any known problems with BLACK?

I backed it up, and when I try to load it, I get the message "Invalid PS2 Disc" Any suggestions? The media is Memorex -R, used with Swap Magic Version 3.6

Mine gets me passed the booting screen, but it stays on the black screen.

I backed this up no probs with an MCC 003 disc, I also use swap magic 3.6. So to answer your question, No there are no issue's backing up black. Memorex are probably the worst thing you could ever put in your ps2. Get some decent 8x discs and copy with DVD Decrypter at 4x.
