hey,

im thinking about rewriting the PS2 FTP guide, to be a little easier to understand, and help people who need stuff/ dont need stuff.

to compliment this,

i was thinking about creating a DVD, that contains all the basic things they will need.

hdadvacne, elf browsers, FTP utilites formatting utilites, even emulators etc.

kinda made it like, with this disc u should be abel to do the majority of functions (legally) on the ps2.

what i am asking everyone to do, is to list all the programs they believe are worthwhile (or should just be added anyway).

cheers, links and brief descriptions would be cool

uLaunchELF, HDLoader, ExecFTP, SMS... although I think instead of creating a DVD it'll be better to post a guide on how to create one, because people will want to customise their own disc, besides, ExecFTP and SMS isn't as important, but everytime a new version of HDLoader comes out it'll have enough features for people to want to upgrade, so it's a good idea not to give them a disc but a guide on how to include these new versions instead (and let's not go into uLaunchELF - it's almost guaranteed to have a new version every month!)

Plus the fact that some of those programs, although people can aquire them for free, and not really free and are illegal for you to distribute. Not such a good idea.

okay well i was thinking anything that was LEGAL for me to distribute.

mainly i wanted this for me, and to help out ppl.

even old versions of some programs would be good to just have, so people can use this and update it.

and i am planning on making the Iso with a guide on an easy way to update the files.

or even just the files structured together and a guide on how u can convert to iso and burn/dump.

this seems to be getting zero interest so i geuss i will drop it, these discs are quite good, ive made one before (realli outdated now). and wanted to make it biggger and better,

just thort a nice and easy to use, and documented, disc that shows off quite a bit of what the ps2 is capable of, would be good for new ppl, and would stop a lot of the questions that get asked on these forums.

I am not saying it is not a good idea, i am just saying what what type of things you distribute.
The only problem with FTP is that depending on your set up and service provider you may have to set it up differently.
I have see a lot of FTP set up for Xbox where people (like myself) could look at a tutorial and it would not work. I had to set mine up differently than any tutorial that i read, but it works so i did not worry too much about it.
But i see so many online gaming questions in the PS2 hardware forums here that those people could really use some kind of tutorial.

lol yes, of course FTP is touchy with the many variants of ip's.

though i planned to emphasize this if i rite a tutorial.

it is a major part, and many ppl who try this dont know what subnets and ips realli are, or how to find what theres should be.

(other thread had alot of people just taking stabs and hoping).

i was kinda aiming for a package with the tut, as some things are very hard to find, just a kinda simple, this should work srtaight off, or with minimal understanding and editing dvd.

so please list things (that are legal, eg if the author doesnt like redistrubute, give me web page, i will email and ask him, if he says no then not on disc).

brief descriptions would be good, so would any help :D
