Does anyone know what firmware file contains the info for systems firmware?. I am going to try Hex's idea on my TA-082 mobo when i attempt to downdrade.

Quote:
Well if the chip blacklist's the 1.5 firmware, in the downdater folder couldn't you just drop in the flash file that makes it think it's a 2.5. Considering you dont run the actual 1.5 eboot. Do u guys get what i'm saying?

Haha nice. That idea popped into my head as soon as I read ur thread from earlier. Ima try and find it tho and if I do ill post it.

UPDATE:
I was just readin at SXT's site
SXT_Versionchanger.rar
Description:
Yoshihiro and SXT are proud to bring you
The First Firmware Trickz for Gamez that need Firmware 1.52 2.00 or
2.01to run on your PSP and Cant Run UPDATER 1.52 or 2.0
The System think it's a PSP v1.52 ,v1.0 ,v2.0, V2.1
even if its a v1.5 or 1.0.Backups your original index.dat with the filename vc_bak_index.daton the memory stick root.

You'd be better off asking at ps2dev or maxconsole. They'd know more about that. They could also probably tell you straight up or not if that would work.

I dont see why it wouldnt work, except for the fact that the files from 1.5 and 2.5 might be totally different.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Theoretically it should work unless ...like you were saying...it actually checks the files being flashed. I dont know I doubt it would be that easy tho. Sony prolly thought of that.

I don't think it matters what you change or edit. The hardware blacklists the actual firmware so as soon as it "detects" or "finds" itself running a lower firmware it bricks.

back when they first started making the TA-082 mobo (mine is dated 4/27/06 was factory 2.5)thier was no downgrade or kernel mode on 2.01,2.6 or 2.6 so sony probally wasnt very worried tho.

Yeah but if it only checks the index.dat for the version of the firmware then my idea would theoretically work. It's not going to find a lower firmware if we make the index.dat say it's 2.71. But like i said i bet sony thought of that.

It seems like it was only person to get a 2.5 TA-082 as i have heard of people that had factory 2.6,2.7 and even 2.71 PSPs that were TA-081.

I figure i have three choices

1)attempt to downgrade my PSP normally
2)attempt to downgrade my PSP with Hex's idea
3)wait and see if hackers find a way to stop the "hardware blacklisting".

I think the mobo depends on where the PSPs were actually produced.

So where did this "blacklist" idea come about. Is this an assumption or is it proven?
