I am trying to backup some PS2 games and i'm using DVD Decrypter. Everything burned fine but when we try and play the game it comes up with a message telling us "Put in a PS2 format disc". Can someone help us?
Well look for swap magic 3.6 because you will need that to run any back up, this is assuming you have a regular unmodded ps2. After you get that then look at the stickies in the forum you shouldn't have any problems after that.
Modding your ps2 will cost more and you better have some understanding of what to do so you dont ruin your ps2. I would recommend the swap magic way in my opinion.
Do a search for it on google and see what you can come up with. Also you can check the forums too like how to copy a PS2 game and Im sure you will see people that have posted about the swap magic disks.
I got mine from http://www.linker4u.com/ The shiping is pretty expensive but I got the right product and fast.I bought Swap Magic 3.6 and Supercard mini for the DS.I did pay 25.00 for shiping though
Hockey23 It's obvious to me you're not doing any searching. I'm willing to cut you some slack since you're new, in the future, the threads in bold at the top of each forum contain a ton of info which will answer all your questions. If you're serious about playing backups, a modchip is the way to go. It will autoboot PSX/PS2/DVD-R/CD-R/backups/imports with no swapping or resetting, supports playing games from any region with the screen perfectly centered, DVD-9 (Dual Layer) backups, playing games off a HD, emulators, and a lot more. If you have the money, go with a modchip. It costs a little more, about $115 for a quality modchip+shipping+installation. Swap Magic with a flip top/slide card/Magic Switch can be had for around $30 on a lot of sites. However you'll have to rebuild games on occasion, require a case mod, shrink DVD-9 to DVD-5 (single layer), and swap each time you go to play a backup. Don't get me wrong, Swap Magic is a good product. But a modchip trumps it in every way. In short, a modchip is better, but it costs more. If you want a reasonably priced solution, Swap Magic will serve your needs. As you can probably tell, I have a modchip. Read my PS2 FAQ and my modchip FAQ. Don't get too indepth, read the first couple questions from my PS2 FAQ, and the general advantages, disadvantages to each backup solution in my modchip FAQ.
