Well that didn?t take long at all - please note 2.80 has yet to be emulated with DevHook - this is just the first step. ;)
Attached is a revised version of BOOSTER?s DevHook Firmware installer:
1. copy the contents of this zip archive to ?ms0:/PSP/GAME?
2. extract ?DATA.PSAR? from the 2.80 EBOOT update [using PBP Unpacker] and copy it to the root of your memory stick (ms0:/)
3. run this app. The result: a decrypted 2.80 dump in ?ms0:/dh/280″
We are now that much closer to emulating 2.8 with devhook. Friggin sweet as peter himself would say.

**Update -- it does work but the readme in the version from psp-hacks neglects to mention you have to make your own ms0:\dh\280 folder - but luckily the ps2nfo version lets you know this :)**
anyone actually got this to work tho? i d/l it and ran it....
"devhook 0.40 firmware installer by BOOSTER
based PSAR Dumper by PspPet version .02B(+)
PSAR file loade ms0:/data.psar (15456352 bytes)
push 'O' to start
push 'X' to exit
pressed o, then it said...
remove ms0:/data.psar
Special PSAR records:
version info - 272 bytes
firmware string :1415,0,3,1,0,2.80
push 'O' to exit
and when i go to my mem stick data.psar is gone and there is no ms0:\dh\280 folder, was gonna try to modify DAX's 2.71 reboot.bin decrypter but i can't even get the psar dumped yet

right i've made some modifications to DAX's reboot.bin decompresser but - and it's a HUGE but - I don't have a reboot.bin.gzip file. The ones for 2.6, and 2.71 were obtained by using a decrypter program thru GTA's eLoader on a PSP running 2.6. I have the decrypter but don't have a 2.6 PSP and can't upgrade just to run the decrypter cos I only borrowed a copy of GTA to downgrade which I can't get hold of again.
So if someone has a 2.6 fw psp, GTA (the older one), and knows how to use eLoader can they let me know so we can try and arrange some method of getting the reboot.bin file

Well for the time being, there really isn't much point in using the new firmware...unless your that desperate for the new music file type...
As long as I can play Ghost -n- Goblins when it comes out, i will be happy as anything :D
This would be my name but its 10 letters long and AD only allows 9 :P

I have yet to go online with my PSP...So browsing and everything works perfectly with devhook? Or if you are emulating the firmware online doesnt work as well as it would if you have a authentic 2.71?

pretty much all online stuff works with devhook except playing multiplayer games online cos of $ony's security checks on their gaming servers. - btw if i run devhook and run a gta iso do you reckon that would let me run the eloader and certain eboots?

Wardriving is searching for Wi-Fi wireless networks by moving vehicle. It involves using a car or truck and a Wi-Fi-equipped computer, such as a laptop or a PDA, to detect the networks. It was also known (as of 2002) as "WiLDing" (Wireless Lan Driving, although this term never gained any popularity and is no longer used), originating in the San Francisco Bay Area with the Bay Area Wireless Users Group (BAWUG). It is similar to using a scanner for radio.

Lol yea I thought of doing that, theres a new game for the PSP where you actually walk around your neiberhood and sniff out wifi. As you find different signals you collect peices for a puzzle. It's a college kids homebrew game he made for school. Do a google on it, "PSP wifi homebrew" or somthin, its kinda cool.
