Okay, I'll try it.... I don't have GTA though, so I guess I'm waiting till tomorrow...

If you wanna brick your PSP, go for it. Ic1003 means that your mobo is TA-082. Unless you wanna pay for new PSP, I'd suggest that you don't go for it.

Oh Oh, controversy!! hehe, I totally don't wanna Brick, and don't know if I could return it without them knowing.

Overall I've heard that it bricks. I've heard of a few "reports" that have successfully downgraded that mobo.
If anything, it seems that it's very random as to whether or not the downgrader will work with the IC1003 mobo.

im free today roaming here at after dawn but ipirate always beats me in answering topics.
No DONT downgrade if you have TA-082 (IC1003) this is my second psp. if you have this model you either wait for the proper downgrader to be invented and released or you sell you TA-082 PSP and buy used psp having
2.0 or below firmware (as to not stumble upon the same TA-082.)
2.0 can be downgraded without the use of GTA LCS umd. (MPH Downgrader)
1.52/.151 can upgraded to 2.0 then downgraded to 1.5.
2.5/2.6 (Non-TA-082) need GTA LCS unpatched (UMD with gun picture) to downgrade.
EDIT
as with all things i dont wanna RISK my psp bricked.
i'd rather tell you to sell it and buy a compatible one.
sure there is a chance to successfully downgrade even with TA-082
the foremost question to come in mind is do you really wanna/have to?
in "people's term" bricking means death (you can unbrick it by buying a UP chip? too much to pay for now coz downgradable psp's are still obtainable)(even if you have the cash, can you install it properly/easily?) so it all comes down to playing SAFE!

yupe sorry read my edit^ i made the mistake of saying that it would work but dont. im not sure, i had the clean mobo. Look at QJ.Net as theres hope for TA mobos.

Actually I heard that it is possible for TA-082's to downgrade, but not recommended. Seeing as he didn't know how to check his firmware, he probably hasn't updated, meaning it was a factory 2.6.

Yeah, its a factory 2.6 -- I didn't alter anything at all yet.
Still have my fingers crossed. I'm wondering if I should try it, but if it fails, would the store exhange it??
I'm still open to any & all suggestions.

as far as stores exchanging it for you.. it all depends..
my friends who bought psp at tech stores like future shop, they won't exchange it.. they are 'tech-savy' guys.. they know what's going on..
but my friends who bought at Zellers, the old lady didn't care at all.. would exchange without a single question asked.

Thanks iPirate & company.... I'm not going to risk trying to downgrade it just yet, but I'll keep an eye open for a fix in the next little while. Hopefully something will come up...
I bought it at Bestbuy, probably should have gone to Walmart or something... Oh well.
On a similar note, if I download a movie in the Mpeg4 or whatever version, would that work? hehe, or do I need 1.5 for that also?

@stinff i see your an aspiring person (or bored with your psp hehe)
that mp4 would play fine with most psp firmware version (especially 2.++ firmwares)( but theres a proper folder format or sumtin)
if it doesnt you have to convert to proper psp video format (ex pspvideo9) try psp-hakcs for psp video converters.
@ipirate its becuase you have an easily recognizable name/signature.

i am hoping fanjita and crew can refine their program to support DevHook
so that PSP 2.5/2.6 TA-082 owners can also experience the sparkle of this great homebrew.
