I never want to use CD's or DVD's or "Use one time only" medias anymore. I'd like to get rid of that habbit. Sooner or later I throw them away. I remember seeing things about a hard drive for the PS2? Just storing ISO's or games onto the hard drive and then loading them onto the PS2 and running the game. I have a PREMODDED ps2 so would it work out, of course if it's even possible. If it is, where can I get it and what kind?

search for it in these forums, im definite theres something. you can just use a normal IDE HDD for the ps2, but you will need a network adapter with the HDD option (has 3 ports, 2 for the HDD like in a PC, and one to connect to the ps2) or i think you can use a USB HDD if you use USBAdvance or something like that.

dont know much, so check in the forums

yeah ive heard about USBextreme or HDloader ,youd have to have a network adaptor to use a hardrive on old fat ps2s,if you have a slim one then you dont need a adaptor. ,also i think theres about 95% of games that play on a HDD Drive.i was thinking of getting one to rather than spending more on a ps2 and scratching ps2 laser

also can someone find a link to all the games that are compatible with the usbextreme

how is your system premodded. If it has a DMS4 Pro chip the hard drive thing will be a snap.
You can do this but let me pre warn you. If think not using DVD's altogether is a smart idea then what happens if your hard drive goes corrupt one day. And yes i have seen it happen to people.

Having one is great and you can either use the PC, or set up an FTP connection to transfer games to the PS2. But i still back them up on disc just in case anything happens to the original.
With a fat PS2 a network adapter and HD Advance 3.0 would be what you need for an internal hard drive, unless of course you have the DMS4 Pro and then you just need the latest firmware which has an HD Loader program built right in.
A slim PSTwo it depends on the model. a V12 or V13 you can either use an external hard drive which will be a bit slower and have worse game compatibility. (with USB Extreme) Or shell out the money to have it put into an
HD Combo case so you can have the internal hard drive
With anything above V13 you can only use an external hard drive.

I have a SCPH - 70012 PS2 (What version is that?) And my ps2 is premodded with: Infinity v1.54 and it is a slim PS2.

With those specs, what do I need?

It's a V12 PS2
Which means you can either get an external USB hard drive and USB Extreme. This will work but be no faster than playing games from a disc. And from what i have heard it has worse game compatibility then the internal hard drives.

option 2 you can get your V12 put into an HD Combo case and have the hard drive put in it. This will be an internal hard drive and the new case will resemble a smaller version of the old style case.

but with the Matrix Infinity even with this option you will still need to get a copy of HD Advanced 3.0
Internal hard drive will increase the load times and have better game compatibility.
