Hello everyone. I have been asked to backup a DVD which appears through WinXP to be a 4.3Gb DVD. However, Nero 6 says it is blank or invalid. I have copied its contents to the HD, but there are over 200,000 files and over 15Gb of data on this disk.

I don't know how this is possible. Is there a simple explanation for this that someone out there knows, or am I slowly going mad ?

Hi. The DVD appears to be an archive of various software installations. I assume it is a collection of utilities and what-not bundled for easy access. I have put this thread in the appropriate forum, but thankyou for the question. I have copied the DVD by creating an ISO image and Nero-ing it onto a DVD-R. I still do not understand how so much can fit on a disk.

Is the disc single or dual layered?
Or are the files zipped for compression sakes so they can fit more on to it

It is not compressed. Windows reads the 4.3Gb disk as a standard drive. My burner is not a dual layer capable.
