What annoys me about updating devhook hook is that you lose your settings, so you hav to go and change your username, change the bckground etc, my question is is there anyway u can keep the settings when changing the devhook version or when using a new firmware version? is there a file i cud just copy over? :S

oh i c wat your trying to say, yeah tht happens to me, but when i upgrade devhook or instal a different firmware to emulate i have to change the settings again, what i want to know is if i upgraded devhook or upgraded the fw, could i possibly use a file from the dh folder that saves the settings?

You talking about upgrading Devhook ? i.e. Replacing say Devhook 0.44 with 0.45 ?

no what i mean is, when u upgrade devhook, and emulate the firmware, you have to put all your settings back in, say psp nickname, background, wireless connections etc, of course when u load devhook agen the settings will load up to what u changed them to. swo in the dh folder there must be a file containing data that tells devhook what the settings are. i was wondering what that file was and could i copy it into a different dh folder and keep the settings?
hope that makes sense?

The data that you're looking for is contained in /dh/271/flash1/registry. Copy the 2 files, system.dreg and system.ireg, into the same folder in the next Devhook that you install.
Depending on the firmware you're emulating, it will be /dh/271/flash1/registry if your emulating firmare 2.71. If you're emulating 2.6 and you want the info then you get that info from /dh/260/flash1/registry.

I prefer the x-flash method as it backs it up to the root of ur MS and you have it there. Plus it's faster to have it do it rather then manually finding the files and manually creating the folder. Its all Personal Preference here.

X-Flash is perfectly safe. It's almost impossible to brick your PSP using X-Flash.

Definately true.

That's a helluva long time though. I've never heard of someone bricking from writing to their flash over and over again. The flash can hold out 1000+ flashes/upgrades before the NAND starts to die.
