I have a Sony DRX-710UL burner and I am using Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R media. Should (Could) I booktype my backups for my ps2?

Book typing DVD+R to DVD-ROM will improve compatibility with your PS2. DVD-ROM is the most universally compatible DVD format. V.4 PS2's and later will read DVD+R's booked to DVD-ROM fine. I use Yuden000T02 exclusively for games any more, never had any issues with it for PS2 or Xbox backups.

Yes, I know that. That's why I want to booktype. But I don't have BENQ so howd do I select it as my brand? I mean, I saw that guide but every time I select Change For: DVD+R the Current Setting says Unknow (Failed!)

Then your drive isn't an OEM BenQ. It's possibly a Liteon. Most all Sony drives are rebadges. Assuming it's capable of booktying, you need to find out who originally manufactured it. A google search should bring it up. According to this Link it's indeed a Litey: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=779&Search=Sear...

So select the Litey tab and you should be all good.

I also allways wondered about this I new about it I just never new which one to select.

I have a (Sony DVD RW DW-D22A)

Do I Also pick BENQ? I'm pretty sure mine is not a lite-on.
