Yes it's impossible unless you have a debug station. This has been answered time and again, all over AD.

Dunno second hand from mod sites or something, not sure exactly. It'd be a lot easier to use a quality modchip.

5. Q. What modchip should I get?
A. Matrix Infinity (Green Dot), DMS 4 Pro SE, or the Crystal Chip 1.1.

Unless you've got a spare £4500 (approx $7800) floating around, I'd forget about the PS2 Debug Station (also known as a Dev Kit), mengsbu52.

Why would you spend that when you can get a chip for £50 or less?

V12 Slimline PS2 with Matrix Infinity Chip.

You wouldn't. I guess I didn't state that plainly enough. It would be beyond retarded to pay that much for a mod.

It isn't just a mod though. You can actually hook it up to a high end PC & create (develop - hence the name 'Dev Kit') games for PS2 on it. Cheat device companies also use simplified versions of the same thing, hooked up to a pc to analyse the games' code while it is playing, so they can easily hack codes.

I wasn't aware of the Dev capabilities of the debug station. As you said, they're really expensive and only high end peeps have access to one. It is actually possible to play burned games on a completely unmodded PS2. It would require the magic gate key. There was a thread about this a long time ago, it doesn't get talked about often. Again this is real high end stuff, only CEO's of game companies would have access to for demos and what not.

Ace already explained that, it's a development kit for game companies.
