ok i just got my psp and i used 3gp to convert video files to mp4 and it seems like a great little program.
but there are so many formats and i don't know which one is the best for me.
like there are formats starting with QVGA, AVC, and other stuff.
which one is the best for converting widescreen dvdrip movie files?
and which one is the best for 4:3 (non-widescreen) tv rip files?

and after converting, i get the mp4 files along with .thm file... what's this thm file for?
and how do i watch subtitles on psp? let's say i have a movie file (.avi) with a sub file (.smi).. how do i view that sub on psp?

im not sure about the subtitles and what format to use, but i know that you get a .thm file. You copy that over with the MP4, i think or should know that its like info for the movie. The movie name is MP4XXXXX but the thm give the psp info on it.
Also the psp will play in 4:3 but you have black bars on the sides, you can strecth it to fit on the psp, it looks ok but you can see yourself.

the .thm is a lil thumbnail that shows up in the XMB. its safe to delete.

no its just a thumbnail preview to be viewed in the XMB. It doesnt need it unless u wanna see the thumbnail. It's there to help identify videos as u scroll through them in the XMB.

Thats the thing u scroll thru to select movies, pics, all that other stuff. XMB = Cross Media Bar.

ok that's cool.

but i'm assuming there is no way to view subtitles? i know i can view subs when watching umd movies but no way for ripped movies?
