Iv tried searching every forum under the sun to solve this problem and cant seem to find a solution, I accidently broke the power button on my desktop (the one that ud press to turn it on) and now it wont turn on, im frightened of bringing it to a repair shop cause I basically dont trust the people there to be honest, so is there atin i can do, any help at all would be much appreciated, its a dell dimension 2400 by the way if that matters at all, thanx in advanced.

Well when you say broken how did it brake?

What happens when you try and push it?

if it's just been pushed in too far, undo the screws on your case and take the cover off (lol make sure you just undo the outer edge screws, we don't want you unscrewing your power supply!) then push it back out again. You don't have to worry too much about "touching things" just make sure you're discharged before you do it (grab hold of an unpainted section of a metal radiator pipe) and don't like rub your clothes or fluff the cat, the obvious really. As long as you don't put your fingers near the circuit boards you won't do any harm.

Erm you could try buying a case and just port everything over. However if you bought a dell i doubt youd want to do that defeats the object lol!

well if the button's broken off the wire, you could try resoldering it yourself, getting a new case as lecsiy suggested, or try getting those 'untrustworthy' repair folks to do it. It goes that way in order of cost.
