Can you transfer saves using an AR Max backup?

I have searched the forum already and I didn't find a clear answer.

I have a back up of the AR Max Evolution that boots up with Swap Magic CD version. On original games the codes work fine.

My question is, using a AR Max backup and a USB flash drive can you download saves from the net (in the right format etc) put them on the USB drive and then transfer them to the PS2 memory card? I read something that eluded to it not being possible with a backup and I would like to know for sure before I splash down the hefty sum of £7.99 on the cheapest 128Mb USB flash drive I can find.

Also, the same question but regarding a Codebreaker v9.2 Cracked backup.

It works perfect for me, my backup allows me to use all the functions of the original. So it should allow you to do the same.
