Question on upgrade from Nero 6 to Nero7

At the wise advise of many in this forum I am presently using Nero 6.6.0.18. I am having no problems whatsoever with it. I have downloaded from filehippo's link, Nero 7.0.8.2 but have not installed it. I am a bit confused as to whether I can uninstall my version 6, run the clean tool and use my #'s from version 6 to activate version7. Is this possible? I certainly don't to create more problems for myself when everything is working great right now.

Hi.

No, Nero 7 has to be run as either a trial or with a Nero 7 serial number. It's not a free upgrade to go from Nero 6 to Nero 7. You would have to uninstall Nero 6 with the Nero 6 Clean Tool before installing Nero 7.0.8.2. My advice is don't do it.

I, as well as many others, still use Nero 6.6.0.18. There is nothing in Nero 7 that I need that I can't do with Nero 6. As for file conversion/video editing, NeroVision doesn't come close to other programs like ConvertXtoDVD (conversion) or TMPGEnc Author (editing). Now if there is some feature of Nero 7 you need, by all means do the upgrade or trial.

I agree with laddyboy unless there is something you really want in 7 stick with 6.6.0.18. Only 2 things come to my mind is Scout (which I disabled- resource hog) and the animated menus in Vision (which is where most of the problems are).
Then there's for some users the mp3 audio conversion problem in all versions 7.

If it ain't broke don't fix it :)
