Here?s the deal, I have a huge problem with Azures and torrents in general. On Ares, I can get DL?s up to 200kb/s, but on Azures, I never get over 25 kb/s Down, and 60 kb/s up.
At first, I thought it was because of my router and firewall. I?m on a wireless internet connection, running thru a Motorola WR850 Wireless adapter. Since it?s a shared connection on a private network, I tried disabling the firewall on the computer actually hooked up to the modem. I also turned off my firewall thru windows. I have XP professional and Service pack 2, and I have tried everything from forwarding my ports, to allowing exceptions thru windows. Nothing has changed my DL speeds.
I?m at a loss, because I have tried everything listed on this forum, and others, and I still can?t get Azures speed above 25 kb/s. Now, I?m wondering if it?s just Azures for some reason, but that doesn?t make sense. I?ll try Bit Tornado and see what happens, but I don?t have high hopes.
My ISP is Time Warner, and I don?t think they have any restrictions on Download speeds in NYS.
Your download speed in BitTorrent, or any other P2P (Peer-2-Peer) application for that matter, relies on the upload speed of others - so do not assume that because you get xxKB/s when downloading from web sites that you will always get xxKB/s with BitComet. Slow download speeds are almost always because the upload bandwidth required to provide you with fast downloads just isn't there... so there is no way to magically speed it up, other than going out and buying everyone who you're downloading from (seeds/peers) a faster internet connection.
1)Use Utorrent, its the best client available, especailly for beginners.
2)Never use the stock port, as your ISP is aware of these ports, and will place restrictions on these ports. I use port 27580, and on my 8 meg connection, see speeds of 800KB/s.
3)YOur dl speed is more reliant on the # of seeds and peers. If there are 60 seeds in the swarm you will much faster dl speeds that if there are only 10 in the swarm. Get signed up with some private trackers and you will see a giant increase in dl speeds.
4)Use the speed test offered by Utorrent. Take the upload speed in the results, times it by .8, then divide that by .8. Use that number as your max upload speed.
