I have 2 dvd burners in my pc now and neither are working as good as they did in seperate pc's

i have them both set to cable select but would like to make the one the primary drive. should i just set it to master and my other one slave?

one drive is a pioneer dvr-a09xl thats been flashed with the buffalo 8.5 fw

my 2nd drive is a phillips, but it has been flashed with the benq 1640 fw.

are there better fw's out the that i should iuse? i burn 360 games with both but the pioneer drive is the only one that makes playable copies for the hitachi 360 drive.

is one of my drives better than the other?

i'd like to use mt pioneer drive to burn my 360 games, and my benq for my dvd's

so what firmwares should i look for, or am i using a good enough one for each? because they dont seem like their running as good as they should.

i just did some checking and my phillips/benq drive is in ultra dma mode 5 and the pioneer is in ultra dma mode 2. so the benq drive reads and writes a lot faster than my pioneer, is that beacuse of the fw i have on it? i remember it being faster before.

dma mods 2 is like 44k/b and 5 is 100k/b or something like that. i dont have it infront of me anymore,

You want the drive that is at the end of your ide cable to be set to master (this one should be on top) and the lower drive should be connect to the intermediate plug and set to slave.
