1.AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor

I would think the 4200 is better but thats why I am asking all of you. I am going to be using this computer for a little of everything... Gaming,Home Theater..Internet ..ETC. Not sure about overclocking...(I have never tried..)Anyways Thanks!

the main difference between them is, the 3800+ is a single core cpu and the 4200+ is a dual-core cpu. and bottom line the 4200+ while being slower clocked is a much better cpu.

i think he meant this cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562 . the x2 3800 is a much better overclocker, so if you overclock, it is much better. however, out of the box the 4200 is obviously better.

I've just set up a 3800x2 for someone on an Asus A8N-SLi premium and its happily running at 2.8GHz on air at 39*c, there is more there for overclocking as well, but he wants to do it slowly by easing the CPU in over time.
P.S it was at stock then 2.5 before this latest speed increase.
If you intend to overclock then I would also recommend that CPU, as it is fantastic value now the prices have come down even more, I've seen them for £120 in the UK (retail version)
