Sorry if i'm missing something, but I haven't seen the answer to this problem in this forum yet. Sorry if it already exists.
I'm having major probems with back-up games and swap magic. I have a V12 psTWO and for some reason my backups dont work properly. I bought some Verbatim DVD+Rs because my DATASAFE ones did not work at all. Now I can get the games working, but they dont seem to work smoothly. Rugby 2005 is my most problematic so far, yet my Pro Evo Soccer 5 Back-up works quite nicely.
I burn at the lowest speed I can (1x) and as I say i'm burning onto Verbatim DVD+Rs. I think i'm doing everything right but the games still seem to glitch....a lot!
Don't burn at 1x for a start. Always burn at 1/2 the disc's max speed. So for 8x media, burn at 4x. Also, your PS2 may not like those DVD+Rs very much. The laser is a bit picky, so perhaps switch to -Rs
updated firmware can help a lot, my V12 was sketchy with +R media
Also if your burner has the ability to "booktype" the media that could help greatly because you can booktype a DVD+R as a DVD-Rom and it will make it very compatible as original games are also DVD-Rom.
If all else fails then try a 8X DVD-R instead, which is what i mostly use.
cheers waleedwc for the info about -R discs, although I had gathered that from a lot of other threads i'v searched through to find all this out, cheers anyway
you should really try getting good dvds..if you get crappy dvds like the datasafe they probably wont work good...i use the taiyo yuden DVD-R and they work really good..
for your problem..try burning with dvd decrytor and look at the max speed of your dvd
the newer firmware, if you find some, may also help with the burning speed. But for some games & Movies that 1.2X may just be too slow.
Mine burns an 8X disc around 3.8X most of the time even when it is
set to 1X with DVD Decrypter.
As far as booktype goes, only some burners can do this.
In Imgburn, since it is made by the same guy who did DVD Decrypter, you should look right next to where you would set the burning speed.
Do you see a little icon that look like a book?
press that and it will bring up a list of manufacturers, if you see HP the go to that tab, then look for your burner.
after that there should be 2 drop down boxes. The first asks what type of media is in, you choose DVD+R the second asks what you want to do and you pick booktype to DVD-Rom
then hit the change button, then hit ok.
