simply put my father looks at the router history to see if I've been doing bittorrent and limewire. It shows up as my computer being connected to whoever the hell is uploading or downloading files with me. not only does he claim that it gives everybody I'm linked with complete access to my computer files(not just the one I'm sharing but the whole family network. I don't know if thats true or not. but I need help. I heard that using the proxy settings on this will prevent the router from getting hit by several dozen people. but only show up as one person. I've also heard that it slows download tremendisly. I need 2 things. 1. I need help setting up the proxy correctly if it really does as the rumours say and 2. I need help optimizing my computer for maximum download speed with bittorrent. for now all I do is run limewire with some anime file I want downloading as slowly as it can and the limewire opens up my fire wall enough for bittorrent to get good download speed(the best I have got on any one torrent is 16kbs). I run standard DSL. don't know a whole lot bout puters but I can search for the info I need. I just need a kinda "idiots guide to bittorrent" so to speak. so if anyone can help me I'd be greatful, and so would my anime club.

ddp, strikes again!

anyway, stop using LimeWire like He_Man said, if that is your not using limewire pro.
Try Frostwire instead, comes frmo the same project but much more user friendly, no add ons or spyware, oh and get something like Spybot search and destroy, cus i bet you got a lot of spyware affecting your comp.
