I just got off the phone with a Sony Representative and they are going to refurbish my PSP back to Factory Default, meaning that I will have the 1.0 firmware, and the representative practically guaranteed me that they are not replacing the motherboard, they are simply refurbishing the PSP.

haha lucky you.
but i think it wont be 1.0, it'll be the onboard FW version when your psp was manufactured. eg H for 2.5

My PSP came with 1.0 firmware originally, and yes I have to pay 90 dollas for it, but it's worth it cause i'll still have a non TA-082 motherboard with 1.0 firmware and I can just update to 1.5!!! :)

I'm afraid that they don't know it's a brick. If it's a brick can Sony really refurbish it or will they just install a new motherboard? The guy said a Refurbished one is restored to it's factory state but in the e-mail it said it was an exchange so I'm going to call Sony tomorrow.
