When i now turn on my PSP it comes up with the message 'To start, you must update the system software'.
I just wondered if this is normal if you have downgraded your PSP?

dont hit ok for the software update. it will only upgrade your psp fm to version 2.8. if there a way u can bypass that message??

oh it doesnt ask for a software update, it just says that then you press circle and it exits the message and returns to the normal PSP. just wondering if it did this to everyones PSP that has been downgraded?!

well you usually get that messange if you have a umd in that requires and update to play. But theres no 2.8 games yet. DO you have the 2.8 firmware update on your MS?

nope dont have any firmware updates on there and i have Tiger Woods 06 UMD in.

What is the current version of your PSP?
If it is 1.5 you can play the UMD via devhook and therefore will not need to update.

maybe the update was coming from the umd disc. sometimes u have to update ur psp to play different version games. but there is no need cuz thanks to the new devhook, u dont have to update ur psp to play those higher fm games.

^_^ you already know all this. lesson learned here, never update.
second lesson, please use an OLD game as a boot UMD for DevHook!
as to avoid unwanted upgrading!

EDIT:update
Demo Discs are Not Old - they offer you demos of upcoming games.
use ridge racer or any other psp launch title. im sure it doesnt have update option.

i am running currently at v1.5 and have now placed the demo disk in but the message still comes up, im not going to upgrade but wondered why this message comes up in the first place?

Because in order to run the umd you need to upgrade your firmware as the umd requires a firmware higher than 1.50, I always get this as my demo disc is 2.0 so always asks me but I just ignore it and so should you.
