Hello fellow genius of PSP hacking,
I just recently purchased a brandnew psp, and the firmware is 2.50, and I believe the motherboard is the "TA-082" motherboard which makes downgrading to 1.5 very difficult, so I have heard. My question is, with so many posts out there about downgrading, is there one way that would be safe for my kind of PSP? I really do not want to "brick" it (learning new terms as I go along). My bestfriend and I are very eager to try the emulators because it just brings back so many childhood memories. So anyway, I understand the risks involved, but I would like some direction.
My question is this, 1) has anybody found a way to downgrade a BRAND-NEW 2.50 FIRMWARE (NOT UPGRADED), WITH A TA-082 motherboard, and if so, how? and 2) if no safe downgrading technique is currently available, are experts working on a solution to allow PSPs with 2.50firmware/TA-082 motherboard to downgrade to a 1.5firmware?
If anybody can answer these questions, kiss toe thanks!
Please Help me!

right now its not possible although there has been rumots flying it is. but its hard to believe them. the TA-082 Mobo has a built in function that wont allow the downgrade to 1.5. There is still hope in it tho as people are developing a way for it to happen. Watch pspupdates.qj.net as soon as it comes out itll be there.

Wow, let me just say that the response was really fast, and thank you for your detailed reply!
Well, now I have also heard about using the Grandtheft Auto game to "bypass" the 2.50 firmware and that seem to work. I don't quite understand the relationship between that method and the "emulators" that I am suppose to get. I think what the GTA method is telling me is that once I go through with it, then I can play any "homebrew" game on my PSP. Does "homebrew" mean "emulator?"
Please Help me!

seeing as you only want to play emulators (not load game backups)
it is possible with your current 2.5 TA-082 psp. obtain an UNPATCHED (read my sig link for a minor guide for gta) version of Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. go to http://www.fanjita.org he has the GTALCS exploit name Super Bock eLoader Save. and he also has the all Emulators/homebrew working at this exploit, but not the roms, google em.
snes9x - snes emulator (only one i use)
pspvba - gba emulator is still buggy but playable
gb/gbc - dont like em
n64 by daedalus - buggy unplayable
others - i didnt bother
hope you find my reply Informative!

This reply is very informative, but I guess I need some clarification on the terms before I can understand the advice.
1) what is "roms?" (is it a type of emulator?)
2) Super Bock eLoader Save. I cannot find a link on fanjita.com. Is it like a program that I need to download?
3) I read somewhere about the GTALC procedure, but I have since lost the website, and on fanjita.com I could't find any postings that would walk me through the steps.
3) Will the GTALC procedure "brick" my PSP?
4) How do I know the GTALC I rent from blockbuster is "unpatched?"
Please Help me!

1)Roms are games you play on an emulator
2)It the exploit that is necesarry to downgrade applicable 2.5/2.6 firmware. Its all over the place, first cehck ps2nfo and psp-hacks
3)Do a search, its been done too many times to explain again.....Just search 2.5/2.6 downgrade
4)It can...anytime you flash f0 you can brick your psp, but the risk is justified
5)Ask Hex, I beleive he posted somewhere the differences in box art so you can recognize which version of LCS is compatible.

1.roms are game image file of the game cartridge (ex mario64.n64), an emulator loads it much like putting a game on a snes.
2.sorry bout that its now called "Emenu final" its a save file for GTALCS but when you load it, it will direct to a new program that loads some homebrew softwares like emulators. its at http://www.fanjita.org 3.i think if you download the "eMenu final" it has setup guide included.
3.if you just run homebrew soft (emnue, emulators) NO it cannot brick your psp because you aint Downgrading.
4. since its in your hand try it, after turning on your 2.5 psp
insert UMD, scroll to the game UMD, sounds will play, scroll down once see what update it can give you, if its 2.0 its Unpatched if 2.6 it is patched and you cannot use it for homebrew.
btw it is useless to try this if you dont own game, coz you will have to return the GTALCS UMD and you cannot play anymore Homebrew.
like me i have been waiting for a TA-082 downgrader (luckily i own GTA unpatched so i can still play homebrew on it)
@svtstang we cant downgrade yet (TA-082 IC1003 problems)

Hmmm, so okay here are a few of my concerns,
1) I have to actually buy the GTALC game (I don't like or play anything GTA-related) I am sure it's fun but it's just not my cup of tea. I would invest in it just so I can play homebrew though.
2) so far I have obtained the eLoader and had it installed into my PSP. I don't have any roms with which to test the eLoader, and I don't have a GTALC with me right now. I will buy one if I am SURE that it is "unpatched."
Here are my other questions,
1) the eLoader is not an "emulator." right? So I have to pick one of the emulators like snes9x? Now, does the snes9x allow me to play nitendo roms? I mean, are the roms designed for different kinds of emulators, or one emulator like snes9x would be sufficient to run most of the roms?
2) Now, assuming that I own an unpatched GTALC, and have 1 rom that is compatible with snes9x, how do I install the snes9x onto my PSP? Should I place snes9x under a specific folder?
Please Help me!

about your concerns
1. i have said this on the answer number 4 of my previous post you aint just trying to understand. GTA will Act as a loader for you to load fanjita's eMenu which in takes loads other homebrews like emulators.
2. see answer for your concern number 1.
