A family member told me they deleted the windows file process.exe when the a2 trojan scanner reported it as malicous. They asked me to replace the file for them but I cant find it on their Windows XP cd. Can someone tell me were I can find this file?

You do not want it back. It is added Troj/Banker-JJ.

See thats were I got confused. I looked around on the internet and found 2 definitions/results for the file. Half the sites I went to listed it as a trojan and the other half listed it as a needed windows file.

There is a legit version, it depends were it is, if its in the %WINDOWS% its a trojan, if not its legit.

Yeah, after more research I found that it isn't a trojan. It is mearly a process that stops processes. If your not having any problems without it, I wouldn't worry about it. Just something else to slow down you computer.

I ran in to this again today. When I told someone to run SmitFraudFix they told me they were prompted Process.exe missing. If yours is legit then your antivirus/antispyware program is noticing it as bad. If you did get it back, your anti-program would not allow it to run. The only way/s around this are disable automatic protections and not use it. You shouldn't need it other than using it for removing viruses/spyware/others. Unless it does something I am not familar with...?

As for getting it back...I'm not sure, sorry. I only know that it is part of some anti-programs to stop processes that may not be rid otherwise.
