You look like someone who replied to this post, not started it. Is that true?

It's alright, but those games will put it to the test. You'd really want something with a bit more grunt to see good results in FEAR and NFSMW, those are two of the most graphically demanding games out there. My X1900XT can just about play them at 1600x1200 with an acceptable frame rate. A 6800GS wouldn't fare so well. Is this for AGP or PCI express?

If I remember correctly, a 7400 is a laptop graphics card, so not all games will support it. It also only has the graphics power of a 6600, so while it will play lots of good game titles, the big hitters like FEAR and NFSMW won't run all that well with it, especially not at high quality. I'd recommend at least a 7600GT, preferably an X1800GTO or X1900GT for games like those listed.

The title goes back and forth, but for now Radeon is the performance leader according to several PC sites, including PC World. nVidia is really good. So, you can't go wrong with either if you can afford one of their top end offerings. It doesn't have to be the high priced latest, but one of the more recent top end versions. Sammorriss seems to have shown you some good offerings from both.

Until nVidia drop their prices, however, ATi cards seem a lot more competitive, an X1900XT can be had for under $300, a rival 7900GTX will set you back $450.
