is there any app that allows us to play AVI format on the psp?

I know the later firmwares will allow you to play .avi files, so cant you play it via Devhooks emulation ? Ive not tried it so am only guessing here....

i found another program it allows you to play almost any format its called PSPlayerMT

yeah thats works pretty good on smaller unprotected files.Also you can convert AVI to MP4 with PSPvideo9.

Or,convert your videos to mp4 and play them with your emulated fw.simple.

You can play the files on your normal firmware also. But if you want the AVC format you can only play them on 2.0+ so emulate your firmware like legend said

Do AVI files need to be renamed to enable the psp to view it like mp4 files do and do they go in the same folder as a mp4 file would???

2.71 doesnt support AVI.. unfortunately
