Well, I've read that you need Swap Magic, obviously. But I get confused. The sites say you not only need Swap Magic, but also "fliptop, slidecard, tool" and maybe even a mod chip.

Is there any way to play my back-up/import or backed up import JUST using Swap Magic's Boot Cd/DVD???

Thanks, I really needed to know it.

Oh, and I think I manually modified my ps2 using "tape & tissue method".

You need a set of keys or a slide tool depending on which ps2 you have, if you have the old bulky ps2, then you need the slide tool, but if you have a slimline you will need a set of keys, they allow you to make the ps2 think that the tray or lid is closed when it isnt, you dont need a mod chip for swap magic. If you have modified you slimline using the tape and tissue mod, then you only need the swap magic disks, and your good to go.

Yeah, damn, do you still have to swap the discs with them spinning at it's full speed and the lens sticking out like they dare you to hit them? Well, it's still a relief that I don't need those tools. Oh, and will the change of ps2's disc speed better to be set on "standard" rather than "fast"?

Thanks

No, swap magic loads up and bypasses the ps2 macrovision security, then the disk stops spinning and the laser is turned off, then you insert your backup/import, and press x for normal boot, or square for special boot, and the disk starts spinning again, the disk does not spin when you have to do the swap.

Awesome, though, I just found another bad thing -.-/ I went to the modchip.ca/store - where you buy swap magic, and with shipping it's $39, then I realized that it was USD. It comes down to $49 CAD. And in canada, I also have to pay a $3 tax (GST). Cow, this is pretty expensive, is it really worth it? Because when I get Swap Magic I will never buy any games. I'll rent them and (yeah you know what) or download them. That'll work, wouldn't it?

And to clarify (sorry) , how does Swap Magic makes a U.S. console read Japanese games? It's just weird.
Thanks

Swap Magic has screen mode setting to make it play games from other regions by tweeking the video settings to the correct lines per inch and 50 or 60HRz

But the drawback is that you will have a little screen cut off with Swap Magic which can be annoying if you have things at the bottom like text or ammo/gun information.
A good mod chip will not have that problem.
A good mod chip installed is the best option, but will cost you quite a bit more since the chip would be about $45-$55 USD and the install would be like $35-$50 USD
But when it is all said and done it will do a much better job then Swap Magic as it will play games from all regions with no problem, no swapping, no rebuilding some ISO files to work like SWap Magic and a few other advantages depending on the chip.

Umm, is there a list of which import games I can play with SM??? And, I am downloading a Japanese game, so I just back it up using decrypter and play with SM??

Does anyone knows if Gundam Seed: Union vs. ZAFT works?

Thanks.

Most games are compatible with swap magic, only time you can come across a problem is when you need to convert a DVD9 game, but that can come later. I havnt had a problem with swap magic running over 100 different backups.

if you want my advice since you're gonna end up spending close to $50 CAD on the whole swap magic thing, put in a little more cash and find someone locally that'll install a mod for you (it'll cost maybe another $30 for lower end mods or $50 for the higher end mods so $80-$100CAD and you'll have yourself a mod) .

I'd rather insert the Swap Magic everytime I use it.

Yeah, tape & tissue should be enough.

And sorry, 1 more que. : Swap Magic is calssified as "no soldering" modchip?? So I should but "Swap Magic" under no soldering?

What's soldering and no soldering?

THanks.

There is no soldering swap magic, if there are two headings then go under no solder, but there is no swap magic disk that requires you to solder a chip, so dont worry about it, just make sure you get swap magic. Sodlering is when you join a wire with another metal or wire, or onto a pcb, by heating an allow that will melt ontop of it, and join the wiring up.

Just as posted many times above, I am buying it from "http://www.modchip.ca/store" . It will cost $50 CAD. Though when I went to "swapmagic3.com" and I went to "where to buy" And then "canadian locations" they pointed me to this site. Though it ends on "CA" the prices were listed in U.S. $$$ so there.

And, the shipping is $7 by Canada Post + $3 GST.

That's it.

Btw. - spasibo ^_^
