im pretty much a novice when it comes to anything pc related having only owned one a few months!
My problem lies with Azureus which had been working perfectly until now; everytime i open azureuz the window kinda half opens with no text anywhere and the 'not responding' jar kicks in when i try and click on any part of the half opened program! i cant work out why. is it anything to do with security settings? i also installed 'crap cleaner' around the same time??? please help!!
Thanks for reply! unfortunately i have already tried uninstalling and re-installing it! it does the same thing still. i even uninstalled then ran a search and deleted anything to do with Azureus b4 re-installing... nothing!!!??
I've just found this site by googling 'azureus not responding'. I am having the exact same problems you are having. All of a sudden, for no reason, Azureus opens and hangs with nothing in view. this happened before i downloaded the new version two days ago (however, it started happening the day the new version was released, if that could have anything to do with it?) I downloaded my first version of Azureus two weeks ago.
So when i click on Azureus, it comes up with 'not-responding' and i've left it for half an hour waiting for it, but it never works. It did work randomly once when i installed the new version, then went back to hanging. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, still nothing.
Ok, I made sure I did a search and deleted everything Azureus related. I even deleted it from the recycle bin before reinstalling the application. It still opens and hangs. The next step is to delete everything as well as the application and get a new application altogether. ...
you guys wouldn't happen to be using Nvidia based video cards would you?
I've been reading how the latest Nvidia drivers are causing conflicts with Java or vice versa. Whatever it is, when I'm running Azureus (which is Java based, of course) whilst playing any games the screen freezes up (goes black) when I try to exit to Windows (XP). Not sure if this is related, but I thought I'd post it anyway...
When this happens, I press the Windows key + L at the same time, this locks the desktop, and then you can just go back in from the logon screen. It's a shot in the dark, but see if that does anything?
These kinds of problems sound like they're related to your JVM or your java release. But rather than plunge into that, you may want to simply try a different client such as BitComet or ☺torrent. Both are written in C++ rather than java, and there's really not much to choose between the three of them. You can pick up existing partial downloads you've already started with Azureus on either one.
I agree it may have been java. perhaps java did an auto update, because today Azureus is working again. i don't know if the other poster has found the same thing.
I will take your advice if in future I find the same thing happens again.
