ok first of there is no safe p2p and with a computer connecting onto the internet isnt safe niether even with firewalls and antivirus programs they just keep all of the easy stuff not getting in but viruses can still bypass all your protection
my favourite is probably limwire pro for music there is still viruses on it. When you download a rar or zip always scan before opening thats were most viruses are

Like singh says, theres no such thing as safe p2p.
Your best off with torrents, Frostwire's great for the odd track.
http://www.frostwire.com
give that a go if you want, I suggest you try your hand at torrenting, once you get hooked you'll never go back :)
Heres some good clients:
All clients do the same thing, its all down to personal preference at the end of the day, there are some simelarities and differences
but its personl preference that win's it, I prefere uTorrent myself.
BitCommet:
http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm
(BitCommet is being banned by most trackers)
Azereus:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
uTorrent:
http://www.utorrent.com/download.php
ABC [Yet Another Bittorrent Client]
http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/
BitTornado
http://bittornado.com/
Allways make sure you run Peer Gaurdian 2 when downloading off anywhere to keep yourself
safe, Its pretty much essential.
http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
Pick your client, then you can use any of theese torrent search engines to get your files:
http://www.isohunt.com
http://www.torrentspy.com/
http://www.mininova.org/
http://www.torrentbox.com/
You'll find the best stuff at private trackers, theese sites are invite only, you need to recive an invite from someone on the inside to gain mebership,WARNING You are not allowed to ask for invites at AfterDawn.Com.
Stick with public trackers, the list of them goes on really, once you've installed your client, just search for what you want in any of thoose sites and download the .torrent file, TomMelee's BitBible explains everything else you need to know, you can download his great guide here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/341946#2049889
That should cover everything, theres plenty of other torrent guides here incase you hit any snags:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/18
If theres anything else you need to know just ask, remember if you don't know the answer its not a dumb qeustion!! :)
Good luck :)

o, and someone told me on gamefaqs.com is the key to p2p is to know what to download e.g. if you wanted to download an episode of family guy and they had one for like 54kbs that is obviosly spyware, so you just need to know what to download and what not, is this true? or are there ways to get viruses, spyware, adware on your computer without downloading anything with p2p? e.g. can you get spyware when people download files you have?

how you use torrents is you download and install the client and then you forward the ports you use for it (most of them require you to, but I use bitcomet and that doesn't). After that, you go to any of the sites rav009 mentioned and you use those to search for what you want to download. When you find it, you download a small file called a torrent and then double click it to start the real download. Torrents are superior for many reasons. You can download full games, folders of music (ie: discographies and albums), as far as saftey is concered, Torrents are MUCH less likely to contain malware as you are downloading from many diffrent people at the same time and clients scan everything that is being uploaded and downloaded and throw away any bogus files. While frostwire is better than limewire, it is still very easy to ruin a perfect computer when you are using it. just make sure you dont use it for piracy as that is against the law.

Probably the best P2P out there is Ares, just google Ares p2p, and download it. It never laggs the computer, good for everything you're trying to search, no viruses at all, but make sure you have a Virus Protecter just to be on the safe side.

Ares tends to be the best for me.
however sometimes there are some really popular songs that have maxed out on users for like 8 different copies and it for some reason won't DL.
but it takes up a low amount of RAM so it runs well.

This is the best website to download unlimited free Music. I am really pleased with the service offered on this website. I have a lot of cool songs and I am glad I got all of them for free. Paying only Once to become member of such a great website like this is worth every single penny. edited by ddp
