how can you reset the bios password when there is one set, cause some idiot decided to put a password on the bios so if anything goes wrong there then i cant do anything to fix it.
Try taking the bios battery out. Take power cord out. Press the on button without the power accord attached. That completly discharges the system. Then take the bios battery out. Then wait around 20 minutes. Then put the bios battery back in.

a good thing you can look for in your mobo book is if your BIOS has a reset button located on the board. You hold this little button in for 5 seconds and the BIOS resets to default.
i dont have the mother board book since this guy made our computer and given it a password when i may need it at a vital time its really annoying isnt there a program which would revel the bios password or something

@ss6phil - you could also try opening up your case and taking a good look at your mobo. provided you don't have too much stuff attatched to it, you should be able to find the brand name and other identifying info printed on the board itself. usually its right under the CPU, in the middle of the board.
Find the flat silver battery. This is the CMOS battery. Pull it out.
Wait 5 minutes.
Put it back in.
Your BIOS will have reverted to default settings. It is possible that, depending on the age of your system, some things might not work quite right depending on your hardware setup--but this is unlikely.
Yes, and it's not a BIOS battery, it's a CMOS battery. Semantics, but...well, it's important for when he goes to the tech company and says "SOME GUY TOLD ME TO UNPLUG MY BIOS BATTERY" and they say "well that's weird, BIOS is software, did he mean unplug the BIOS chip?"
Anyway, 20 minutes? More like 30 seconds.
There should also be a DIP switch and/or a jumper to reset the default settings.
So yea. He hasn't posted back, so I'm assuming he's fixt.
Why not just go round & ask the guy what the password is? He had no right to restrict access to your own PC, you paid for it, what gives him the right to have exclusivity? If he needs persuading, just take a sledgehammer with you & threaten to smash up his computers. If that doesn't work, take a shotgun.
That should get the password in less than 5 seconds.
