OK so it's my Son's PSP but don't tell him that.
Right, we have now got this brilliant little black box with 2.6 but after a few quick reads it seems like so many things are restricted due to Sony blocking holes.
I don't want to even attempt to downgrade the Firmware but I am looking for some guidance to getting some free games !
We registered with MYPSP and updated to 2.8, and downloaded loco roco - brilliant a playable demo.
Also I have broadband connection at home but no wireless.
So to the questions
1 - Is there any more places I can download playable demo's / games
2 - Can we connect to the internet without wirless ?
3 - Are there any good web sites / guides to getting the most from your PSP
Go easy on me please I am just starting.

1)The other demos are Mercury and WTS2 you can get them from the US/JPN official PSP sites...
2)You will need a wireless router 802.11B/G (not sure about G), even a USB WiFI dongle will work and wifi adapters also.
3)this site is the best for forums and since you have upgraded to 2.8 you can check out PSP411.com good crowd there but WARNING do not talk about unassigned code there lol!

Dude, what a mistake!
Firstly welcome to AD forums!
Ok, with the 2.6 firmware you HAD, you could have easily downgraded to version 1.5, hundreds have. Now that you have upgraded to 2.8, im afraid at the moment there are no "free" games for you :( as there is no downgrader at the mo.
with 1.5 you have stacks of options open to you, ie "free" (cough) games, and heaps and heaps of homebrew aps.
So once again welcome to AD, and ill say out of personal experience everybody on this site is a true help. Its just a shame you didnt register here before upgrading!
Just a tip, dont be afraid to ask silly questions, but do use the search option at the top of the page before posting!

Im glad i saw this page, as im hoping to get a psp soon and would have probably done the same thing.

amitguru - thanks I got the WTS2, great, do you have a link for Mercury ?
dansage - as soon as I bought the PSP I joined a chat forum and the only way they said I could do it was to get GTA, trouble is getting the right version prooved impossible, anyway when a crack for 1.6 becomes available I guess it will be posted here so I will keep my eyes open.

What would u mean by that, for the psp? Cracks dont come out, the only way to get to firmware 1.5 is by downgrading :-\

scyther27 - I read from another post last night - and it was hinted by dansage that a downloaded for other firmware may become available.
amitguru - Thanks a lot - I am downloading now, thanks also for pointing out the diagram - I almost mist that one.

NO man, didnt play the game myself so did'nt know bout it lol, the only demos released till date are WTS2, Loco Roco and Mercury...(I think)
