guys i donot understand tht when i use devhook to launch a iso game file to play it on my psp why does the psp get hanged. i have tryed it a million times but all the time the screen gets hanged. i have devhook 0.45 and v1.50 i changed the settings:
1. umd select:mso:/ISO/Syphon_Filter_Dark_Mirror_USA_UMDRIP_PSP.[WwW.LiMiTeDx.com].rar
2.umd mount:iso anyumd
3.umd ver: 2.xx-> 2.00
4.firmware: 2.71
5. cpu clock: 222MHz/111MHz
6. boot select: reboot xmb
7.other : remote ctrl: remote controller
preload address: 0x89000000
and then i press start

i dont think tht will work bcz it depends wt kind of game u have as a iso file and if it needs a high firmware and i guess u cant use firmware
2.71 in it.....;lol

You're putting the rar file in the ISO folder!!!!! When you have d/l, you need to extract the ISO from the rar file, then put it into the ISO folder on your ms. LORFL!!!!!

Is the file definitely an ISO, cos a lot of the syphon filters on torrent sites are in the runumd 3 folder format.
In the rar file, do you have a SYPHONFILTER(or similar) and x folder and a PSP/GAME folder that contains SYPHONFILTER and SYPHONFILTER% folders???

i dont understand jackshit of what is said above...
does this make me unsuitable for iso-based games?
my psp is still 2.5 and im unsure what i should do to get it to do what i want, being:
- play iso games
- play homebrew stuff
- not fock it up
do i have to downgrade for these goals?

@shivam, so its been ripped. Was the version of devhook you d/l the full version with the firmwares already installed, file should have been around 15-20mb.
@seujorge, you will need to downgrade to play ISOs, as has been mentioned thousands of times.

yeah i thought that..
i hate being another one of those guys asking the same question which has been asked millions of times already btw, and i did actually read through a lot of topics already but its annoying when a lot of people speak gibberish on them. it confuses my weak mind.

Sorry didn't mean to get funny, just gets really annoying when loads of people come on here every day and ask if they can play ISOs on their psp, especially as there are stickies that do say that you need to have 1.50 firmware.

what i found was that most stickies explain how to install the programs, but not so much what programs are needed for different goals.
cos i read (somewhere) that for homebrew you dont necessarily need to downgrade.. but now i know for sure i have to for isos i need not to worry about whether i will or wont.

You can run some homebrew without downgrading by using the GTA save exploit, but tbh you are much better off downgrading

i think he was talking about the file size of devhookinstall. but of course, i dont know much so i could be wrong. :)
@damo666
i know this is a stupid ass question but im gonna ask it anyway:
i'll lose just the browser by downgrading, right?
and normal UMDgamediscs can still be played afterwards, right? Only i have to run devhook to make my psp think the firmware is higher sothat i can play ISOs of newer, not newer real games?

see seujorge i suggest u to downgrade and run iso bcz then u can run free games on ur psp. and in 2.5 u can get gta lcs and then downlooad e-loader and put some cool games stuff in it but u will not have as much
fun as in iso games and homebrew

Yes I was asking about the size of the devhook file.
You will lose the browser by downgrading but thanks to devhook, you can emulate the 2.71 firmware to use that browser. You can still play your umds by using devhook.
