Attaching a serial device to Gateway laptop.

I have a Gateway laptop with 2 usb ports. I used a serial to usb connector to attach a serial device but when I go to use it, I get the error "port is busy/or check administrative clearance to use this"
No idea what that means. Any ideas?

I don't know about the "port is busy" part, but the other is option is quite common. If you are running XP, check that you are log as an Administrator.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?
