Question,
I want to mount a flat screen tv over the mantle of my fireplace. With the issue of heat, what would be the best choice?
Any pros or cons with lcd or plasma? Any advisers on this out there?
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I think its not a gd idea for lcd or plasma because plasma has a gas in there not sure which one and lcd has liquid crystal display wich the heat could make the lcd screen hot damaging the screen

issue were your going to put it but id go for lcd better quality longer lasting than plasmer tvs

As long as evrything is insulated correctly there won't be an issue with either technology since both operate at very high temperatures.

Consult an installer for more information as to which technology would go best in your room and what wall mount would be best.

1) there isn't actually liquid in a liquid crystal display. The term liquid describes the pixel shutter.

2) Plasma gas doesn't explode the gassess are inert.

With plasmas you have to worry about screen burn in, and some of the reviews I keep reading make me think plasmas are more fragile. I know the gas in plasmas do eventually run out just like your household flourescent light tubes. With the response times of the newer LCDs, their pic quality is just as good, and you'll save money on electricity.

LCD and Plasma can be close equal when properly calibrated. Most diffrences that people see in the two don't relate to technology as much as it relates to the quality of the manufacture.
