I did a downgrade for me and my Bro too, fortunately both were successful :)
mopton, first off, try taking off battery and putting it back, without the A/C adaptor connected. If it won't boot, you are an unlucky person :<
But the thing is, that you have accepted the risks.. Did your brother know about them?

I think you won't find the modchip from bestbuy..
And another thing: the chip happens to be outrageously expensive :\
Try google with the keywords "Undiluted Platinum"

Does that mean it gonna be useless crap??

I think not.
When you were scrolling down the text in the downgrader and quickly pressing "I Agree", you left behind some important words: "By touching the PSPs onboard flash memory, you will void your PSP's warranty."
Sorry to be such a tearbringer, but it is a fact.
Correct me if I am mistaken.

Youre probably correct, but if you say to sony you accidentally turned it off while updating then you should get a replacement ;)
They cant tell how it was bricked all they can tell is that its bricked.

I do call sony, they said if I still have the receipt, they would replace it for me free of charge.
And I also check the downgrader agreement, there is no such words "void psp's warranty"

But....the thing is my bro told me he lost the receipt.....I gonna still pay $89 for the replacement..

the sony warranty is worthless anyway. the only one that is worth while is the best buy extended warranty. i have stomped on my psp to break the LCD just so i could take it back and get it exchanged for a new one.

I know the fact, and what it should be, but since you lost your psp, nobody would like to take the fact, won't they?

no it wasnt bricked it worked fine. i jsut wanted a new one cuz of a few dead pixels. so i stomped on the screen and exchanged it for a new one. if you have the extended warranty from bestbuy you can do watever u want and take it back and exchange it for a new one. i think the only thing they dont cover is loss/theft.
