I am getting ready to purchase a new DVD+-RW. Which one is best for making copies of movies? I presently own a Phillips 8801 and it does a very good job. I am looking for a second one.

BenQ drives are excellent and very inexpensive. You can get the BenQ 1650 right now from Newegg for $27.25. Amazing price! It's the lowest price I've seen on a BenQ. I have a 1650 myself and I love it!

I would put Plextor at the top followed closely bt Benq.
Either one you won't go wrong.
If you do end up buying Plextor, make sure it a top of the range as the cheaper ones are just Benq's which have been re-badged.

tashacat,

Your Philips can be crossflashed to a BenQ 1650.

I recommend the BenQ 1640/50/55 I own all three and they are excellent drives. You also can download the BenQ Qsuite which will allow you to booktype your DVD+R's into DVD ROM's which makes your copies compatable with all dvd players.

You can find out more about the Qsuite features here

www.ultimate-DVDR.com/applications-utils/606-benqs-qsuite-guide.html

Do not forget to use good quality media, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim are best but Maxell,Sony,Fuji MIJ's(made in Japan) are also very good media.

EDIT: Link not working

I agree with everything pazzini said. BenQ Qsuite is great. I use it myself. I booktype all my backups and have had no problems whatsoever. Like I mentioned before, I have a BenQ 1650. I also have a Plextor DVDRW PX-740A, which is a rebadged BenQ 1640. I have my Plextor drive crossflashed with BenQ 1640 firmware. While I agree with BigDK that Plextor drives are great, they are rebadged BenQ drives and cost a lot more. For the money, I would go with a BenQ. You would end up paying at least double the price for a Plextor.

Wow! All of you have been a great help! Thanks for all of the good suggestions. It sounds like a I love BenQ forum. Will the 1650 also do CDR-CDRW or just DVDs?

Thanks for the information. I will order one immediately from www.newegg.com. I use the Taiyo Yuden White Inkjet Hub Printable media as I use my Canon 4000 to print directly to the DVDs. I get the ink cartridges for .99 cents each which make it very cheap to use.
Thanks agan.

I finally got my new BenQ DVD+-RW. Now I have Two BenQs on one computer. It is excellent. I have copied about 10 movies with Clone DVD2 and they come out flawlessly. Everyone perfect. I think I will replace My LiteOn and HP with BenQs on my other computer. At $27.00 each I can't go wrong. I have never had such success with copying.
Thanks for all of the good advice.
