I know once you get f/w 2.6 you can Enable WMA playback, but my question is.....

drumroll please!

can someone tell me how, if possible, to do this w/out a connection to a wirless server...

You dont need a wireless server. Go into system setting and then Enable WMA playback. Easy as that.

No, you need to connect to the net to do so. There is a homebrew for 2.60 that can enable it without a internet connection. Heres the link:

even if u connect ur psp to the internet to enable the WMA, they are not goign to ask you to update your psp. so there is nothing to be scared of.

see thats what i though, you have to connect, but is it possible w/out a wireless connection?

im not worried about upgrading because i dont use home-brew.

You can use this method but it requires GTA and the eLoader though.

Otherwise you HAVE to use a wireless connection.
