I am curious about playing dvd-rws. From the information that i have heard, the reason that cd-rws will not play in a standalone cd player is because the burning program cannot close the cd (leadout track). Is this the same thing that happens with dvd-rws? Or are they just as compatible as dvd-rs?

I burn onto dvd+Rws and I have not had a problem with two dvd standalone players playing them.

You can produce a leadout on a DVD-RW and still re-write it. However, some standalones are seceptible to errors when using this method. My advice would be to use the DVD-R instead

dude, buy a dvd-rw, burn something on to it, test it. If it doesn't work you can always use the DVD-rw for something else.
