Hi there,
my lad has got a PSP woth firmware at 2.80. What are my options for downloading games etc to it???
Any help much appreciated

u cant dwngrade 2.80 psp's. its still hard to get the 2.70 downgrader, so u mite hav to wait long for the 2.80 downgrader if ther will b 1.

Bugger!!!!!
Do you know if a newly bought PSP would roll out with an earlier firmware (2.6 or below) I might have to invest in another!!

Yes,i think you can be lucky,before buying check this:
A = 1.5 confirmed
B = 1.51 confirmed
C = 1.52 confirmed
D = 1.52 confirmed
E = 1.52 confirmed
F = 2.0 confirmed
G = 2.01 confirmed
H = 2.50 confirmed
I = 2.60 confirmed
But if you get a 2.60 you're lucky.
And remenber,near in the future,psp's 2.6(I) with the ta-082(not downgradable) motherboard will load isos(games) too.

ok so if i check the barcode area - anything 2.6 or below will be fine including the 2.6 coz there will be downgraders available soon.. have i got that right?? if thats the case i will just keep watching this space.
Will 2.8 be able to be downgraded or whatever you need to do in the near future???
you said that iso1s will be able to be played on 2.6. would that be without the need for a downgrader??

Yes,you're cool if you get a 'I'.
And yes,the game loader loads without downgrading,it's is purpose,load games with 2.6 factory psp's that have ta-082 motherboard(not downgradable to 1.5 firmware,the hackable firmware.)

There is still a chance that you could get a 2.6 that cant be downgraded (so I keep reading although Ive never come across one myself). To be 100% sure you can downgrade you are best off trying to get an earlier firmware....
