Okay, so I recently heard that Limewire is now the new target of a Recording Industry lawsuit . . . and knowing full well what happened with Napster and Kazaa after lawsuits were filed against them, I figured now is probably the best time to start looking for a new P2P program.
I read through a bunch of the old forum posts, and noticed that outside of Torrent sites, Limewire was the last recommended program, but if they're about to go downhill . . . well . . .
I've tried torrent programs in the past and they never seem to operate properly on my computer, yet I've rarely had a problem with other p2p's. However, I am in obvious need of a recommendation, what would be your next best choice for life after Limewire, without heading towards the torrent scene? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Try Zultrax, http://www.zultrax.com/p2p
This program is already around for several years. Always worked good for me but had an awfull interface. Last week they suprised with a fully redone new version. Looking great and still working very fine. It beats everything out of limewire.
For the big movies bittorrent is the place to be. For anything else, Zultrax.

I'd say Frostwire or Emule.
And do yourself a favor, start using Peerguardian 2 while you're at it.

Is not Frostwire the same as Limewire, merely difference is that Frostwire is the open-source version? Curious about that one.
And thanks for the recomend on PeerGaurdian, I dl'd that earlier today after reading some of the other forum posts looking for answers.

Frostwire is from the same makers as limewire, but cannot be sued, as it's based outside the US (don't ask me why, only summing up what i read about it) and it's also spyware and adware free (unlike limewire).

Wasn't Kazaa based in New Zealand and still got sued?

That's a whole different story alltogether...
Here's what the people at frostwire say :
Quote: What is FrostWire
FrostWire is a fork of the very popular LimeWire Gnutella client. The purpose of FrostWire is to keep and maintain the freedoms that LimeWire LLC may be forced to withdraw.
LimeWire LLC has been considering an alternative path to keep them out of any legal situations they could be forced into. From what we understand, LimeWire LLC intends to implement a DRM filtering technology into their client. If LimeWire ever decides to implement this DRM technology, we will be prepared to remove it from our code and distribute the client under our own branding. However, we will continue supporting the LimeWire client development and do not wish to make fundamental or drastic changes to the LimeWire core itself. FrostWire will not break with LimeWire's design philosophy. We will always do our best to maintain a strong relationship with the LimeWire Development Team.
FrostWire, although very much like LimeWire, will never offer a paid version or a subscription service for the download or use of the FrostWire application. FrostWire is a not-for-profit project. We will never bundle our software with any type of adware, spyware, malware or collect any personal or private data. FrostWire will always remain free as in both price and freedom.
