DVD To AVI (For Editing)

I'm going to be doing some editing and I need to cut together some footage from different DVDs I have.

I use a program called DVD Ripper Platinum that has an option to convert the .VOB files into just about any format. The only problem is there isn't an "uncompressed" option. So by doing it this way I'm already working with video that is one generation removed from it's original quality.

Anyone know of any similar apps that will do this conversion without the loss of quality?

You could try Magic DVD ripper, that's what I use when I need the video files on my computer. It rips to uncompressed MPEG2, along with WMV, AVI, MP4 and MPEG1. You have to buy it though but I use it all the time so I've definitely had my moneys worth.
You can rip direct from DVD and also convert VOB files from your hard drive(Not 100% sure though, I've never needed to, I'll try it sometime if your considering buying it)
