I just installed my flip top for my version 4 PS2. I have swap magic 3.6 and use DVD +R 8x DVDs (Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00). I burn my games at 4x with Alcohol %120, Imgburn and DVD Decrypter. The games I am trying to burn are Fight Night Round 3 and NCAA 2007, neither of which are working. I am getting the "Not valid PS2 disc" on the Swap Magic menu, black screen, and sometimes it will show Fight Night and it will say "loading" but it will never load. My DVD burner is a Sony DRX-710UL and for some reason I can't booktype with it, and every time I try burning with Imgburn or DVD Decrypter after the successful burn it will say "Disc opening..." or "Device not Ready..." on the bottom part of the respective menus; hence it will never eject my media I have to do it manually. So, I am thinking that either my DVD burner is malfunctioning or DVD +R just doesn't work on my ps2. I did download recently a firmware update, maybe this has something to do with it. I am not sure what to do, any suggestions?

You can booktype that Sony drive by selecting BENQ as your manufactor in DVD Decrypter. Version 4 ps2 and above can read +r. The latest firmware (which you say you got) shouldn't cause a problem. Try booktyping it (if you can and let us know) or try a -r disc. I've never had any problems with any EA game but alot of people have and resort to rebuilding them in order to get them to work.

No, you can't booktype with BENQ selected; you have to use Lite-On. Even though I select that it still shows up as DVD +R booktype in the Disc info.

To save you time and disc use DVD-R and you won't have to worry about the whole booktyping thing.

He can book type those DVD+R's fine. Find out who the OEM for your drive is.

It's a Liteon, select the Liteon tab to book type. Since those two games are EA games, there's a good chance they'll need rebuilt. For whatever reason, EA games are notorious for needing rebuilt to work with Swap Magic.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://rapidshare.de/files/22775594/1.05.rar.html
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

I for some reason cannot booktype. The dvd burner does not work when I set it to booktype. But I did try to rebuild the games with NCAAA Football working somewhat. It loads so slow that you need to wait like an hour to play. What do I do when it loads super slow?

DVD+R vs DVD-R isn't the issue here. It sounds like you burned the game too slow. Rebuild it, then try burning at 8x. I know, that's not what most people say, but it's a common fix for slow loading games. If the game's burned too slow, the data can't keep up with the disc as it spins, and it'll lag. I burn all my game backups nowadays at 8x on Yuden000T02, and I've never had a coaster because of the media.
