I am building a system for a buddy of mine.
I am looking for good, cheap ram.
Corsair and Kingston are probably my obvious choices.
but is there any other ram out there that is cheap and performs well
I heard Crucial is OK and its fairly cheap.
If I get 1024 is it better to get 2 sticks of 512 or just a gig stick.
and also what ram should I NOT buy.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If its a new system, then get 2x512 rather than 1x1MB as then it will run in dual channel mode which is faster.
Crucial is ok.
I only use Corsair so never get dodgy ram to comment on.

Crucial makes excellent RAM. They are one of the largest most recognized manufactures of RAM in the world. They did have issues with their Ballistix brand awhile back but their Value RAM like Corsair and Kingston will do you very fine.

Corsair and Kingston will do you well, too. I'd feel very comfortable with all three.
