I'm sorry if this was asked before, but I searched through several of the other articles, and all of those people seemed to be using the Wifi Max, which I returned two days ago because I thought it was crap. I am using Linksys, and I have the same problem: Connection to the server failed. A DNS error has occured. (8041040F)

I don't know what to do. I tried reseting my router yesterday, and it was out of action for a day. Could someone please help me? I'm thinking that I need to check somewhere on my PC for my DNS # for my router, but I wouldn't know where to look. Thanks and salutations to any one who helps.

Is that on the Linksys router? There's only one button on it and that's to reset it. Or is it on my PC, somewhere?

Oh, that. Yes. It's on. It starts to connect, accesses the IP address, and then says it is "checking." After which it promptly tells me that there is a DNS error.

It didn't. The very first step, where he tells you to check the box that allows other users to access to connection, doesn't exist on my pc. The only thing under the "advanced" tab is the internet connection firewall box.

I tried to make that error just a while ago :)
I got it when my Router's NAT option was off, and it was in the bridged mode. Currently I am using the routed mode, since I haven't gotten the bridged one working on anything but my gentoo since 1999 ^^

So, I think the problem there is 99% surely on your router's settings.
PS. i left the 1% just in case ;)

EDIT: To get to your Router's settings insert some of these IPs into your browser (Dunno for sure the right one since you did not mention the exact model):
192.168.0.254
192.168.254.254

Cobspider: When I go into command prompt and type in ipconfig, I get this:

Ip address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

I've entered all of this information into my PSP, but it claims a DNS error.

Ok.. So what I think I know now, is that your Router's IP address is 192.168.1.1, try that one on your browser. There you should find somekind of Wireless Configuration panel :) You can PM me if ya like, or just continue it here.

EDIT: Waait a second :D Is this your "router"? :D

That's the thing that picks it up, right? I have one of those on my other computer. The actual router is bigger, right.

Either way, I do have that.

So that one goes to your desktop computer, and the big one is connected to it? You got to access the bigger one (unless it does not have W-Lan) on your PSP, not that one :)
And what would the actual router's model and manufacturer?
EDIT: Someone else could go on with this, I'm heading to bed

um... that router looks very dodgy to me

errrrr does it have any firewall or wep key built into it??

um... ebay tells me that this model (WUSB11) has wifi capabilites but do u need to shuve anything extra in it for the wifi??

lol no wonder its not working!! every1 is like trying to flog theirs off for like 10 quid i recommend u gettin a new router (a usb stick in thing like for phones u can get a bluetooth thing) [sorry i dont speak in techno geek language]

@cobspider

the 1% could be the hardware problem or it might of been dropped or sumthing

hehe kevin2k, I wrote that thing about percents before I was told what "router" he had :D And as you may see, below that text, it ended up not being a router after all :D (surfing on my PSP now, writing sux)

I grabbed the wrong box. My actual router is different. Anyway, I have a connection now. (Thank God) How do I access the browser? When I type in the url for Google (on the PSP), absolutely nothing happens. Could any one help? Or at least tell me how to get some more RSS Channels. Once again, I'm very new to this whole thing, so thanks to any one who can stand it. ^_^
