Hi,
After backing up my original owned copy of Gran Turismo 4 using Alkohol's guide, I found that the audio, in the first video that plays when you insert the game, does not work. I was wondering, was there a problem with one of the steps? My NTSC .iso turned out to be exactly 3.88 GB and I burned it on a Ritek/Ridata 8x DVD-R. Can anyone help me out and tell me how to fix this problem if they've experienced it also?

Regards,
DiRect

Hey where did you find Alkohols guide? And do the download links work?

Did you take out the wrong files or something? I doubt that's media related. I'm guessing you forgot to add something when recompiling the iso with CD/DVD Gen.

Hi,
@freebeer0. Alkohol's guide is on the forums, and the links for the softwares don't work, but you can get them from here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292163

@Tokijin. I followed the instructions completely, one by one, and I don't believe that I actually did miss a file, because I added one file at a time, after looking at the actual picture from the guide. Is there anything else that could be wrong, or should I try creating another copy, all over again?

The only difference between me and the guide I followed was that when I produced the IML file, it came up to show as 16 kb while in the picture, it only shows as 10 kb. Could this be the problem?

Any and all help is appreciated :)!

DiRect

Not real sure, never used CD/DVD Gen to rebuild a game. The size discrepancy could well be linked to your probs. Just go over the guide step by step and double check everything.

Hi,
Went over the guide again, and created another ISO file from the IML. The IML was still 16 kb, even after I followed everything STEP by STEP. Now, is there anyway I can test whether the video is working fine before I actually burn the game so I don't waste another disc? Also, could it possibly be because I did not burn it Booktype as DVD-ROM?

There's no way to test the video before burning the iso that I know of. It could be related to not book typing, though I don't feel it's likely. There's guides in my sig which cover burning and book typing for each of the four most commonly used programs for backing up PS2 DVD games.

Hi,
What would you recommend. I burned the game using DVD Decrypter at 8x, but did not book type it. Just for test sakes, I will waste another DVD, burn it at 4x, booktype it to DVD-ROM, and report back the results.

EDIT: Cannot booktype to DVD-ROM because DVD Decrypter does not have the name of my DVD Drive manufacturer (PIONEER). Any other way I can booktype?

Which model Pioneer drive do you have? I believe the DVR-9 and later are capable of book typing. Better yet, type your make and model drive in here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters

See if book typing/bitsetting is listed under the features tab.

Hi,
Looks like it's not capable of book typing:

I don't really care too much about the music at the beginning of the game, but it would have been nice to make a perfect rip. I am still willing to spend another disc if someone else knows how I can fix this problem :), if there is any other way?

I thought the DVR-110 was capable of book typing/bitsetting with the default firmware. Older Pioneer drives required hacked firmware to book type. Honestly, I don't think that's the problem anyway, probably a minor technical/compatibility issue.

Hi,
Thanks for all the help :)!. What do you mean by technical/compatibility issue? Also, if my DVD Drive is capable of bitsetting, how can I do that inside DVD Decrypter? Can someone help so I can get this fixed, or should I just burn my new produced copy of Gran Turismo and report back the results?

I mean maybe there's a slight defect/compatibility issue in your mod which might produce the issue with this particular game. There's plenty of DVD-5 versions of GT4 floating around the net which work fine, it might be less work to just download one of those.

9. Q. Where can I find PS2 games to download?
