I think Ptacoma meant. If you have a HD-Drive can you rip a movie the same way as a regular dvd. I would assume that you can use the same software. But again I assume that I dont know it for a fact. Ptacoma please post a more specific question too so everyone knows what your trying to do.

Well obviously your going to need a pc drive that can read both. A drive for each will set you back $2,000 (their about $1,000 each!). But for software I would assume that your current software could do it but wouldnt work right. But heres the problem, take DVD Shrink it was designed when High Definition dvds werent even thought of yet. So if you use shrink it will most likely shrink the film but will shrink it to regular dvd size (4.3gb compared to HD-DVD/Blu-Ray 25gb+). I know the program Ashampoo Burning Studio can burn Blu-ray dvd's. And its only $30 so you may want to look into that. Mainly your going to need new software that support HD-DVD and Blu-ray disc burning and your going to need a HD-DVD Drive AND Blu-ray drive.

And lets not forget the fact that eventually when the war for market dominance is over either your $1,000 Blu-ray drive or your $1,000 HD-DVD drive will be obsolete.

Yes you can rip Bluray discs.. the process is highly inpractical, time consuming and requires ALOT of HDD space.

Dunno if those clever pirates have figured out howto fool a Bluray player into playing a 'backedup' Bluray disc yet.

And no, Im not gunna post the instructions on ripping a Bluray disc. Remember : Google is yer friend :P

you asked if it was possible and I answered. Try taking a look for yourself instead of waiting for me to hand over a link for the information.

and YES I doublechecked, IT CAN BE DONE.. The Developers of Bluray in their ever so cleverness screwed up and left a rather small yet highly exploitable hole in their 'airtight' security
